A painter and a poet got paired as roommates in August 2008. One loved the color pink and the other kept everything gray until they both realized how much they both loved glitter, and each other. The rest is history. If college wasn’t inspiring enough, I was lucky to be paired up with my opposite and my much needed partner in crime. Creating words and watercolors together for four years, I’m excited to feature ErinKelli Kilbane this week, artist, teacher, painter, muralist, fellow glitter & fuzzy animal video enthusiast.

Inauguration Day
Artist Spotlight: Cathy Ruggiero
I have amazingly talented friends and I love to brag about them. I’m lucky to say I’ve had the opportunity to meet and live with painters, graphic designers, writers, inventors, even lawyers! I also am lucky to have friends that are so proud of their craft they’ll let me pay them in pizza and wine – and come over any time.
Poetry Sunday: Shinji Moon
What’s better than a lazy Sunday reading, writing, or doing whatever creative outlet that keeps you inspired. For a lover of poetry, reading always ignites the desire to create your own words. Every Sunday I’ll choose a poem and invite you to weigh in on your thoughts or just enjoy the read!
Face Paint
I love make up. I love to try it, wear it, use it, look at it. In fact, I’ve always loved make up. I tried my luck with black lipstick in 4th grade and got cornered by the librarian who then called my mother. Hey, I was trying to be edgy. I filled bins with wet ‘n wild and crafted a makeshift vanity from my childhood desk when I became a teenager. I covered an entire wall with cut outs from magazines of my favorite looks and trends.
Many Hats
When I was younger, I told someone I wanted to try out as many jobs as I could, just so I knew what the experience was like. While I’ve always known I wanted to be a writer, I never wanted that to be a limiting factor in an opportunity to learn or grow. I’ve also always needed money, so yeah, there’s that too.
Make The Change
Making small changes every day can make a bigger difference than you think. Everyone collectively agreed the last calendar year was like stepping into hot tar, but guess what? This year will be exactly the same if you don’t actively do something about it.
The Start
People always tell you to start somewhere. Well, I suppose this counts as the starting point.
